A man has been charged with murder after a mum was allegedly run down by a car and killed.
Jacqui Purton, 37, died at Campania, in Tasmania, on Monday morning.
A 38-year-old man has been charged with murder in relation to her death. Police say the man and Ms Purton knew each other.
Ms Purton leaves behind four children - a 20-year-old daughter and three younger sons.
Police and paramedics rushed to the home on Native Corners Rd about 3.30am on Monday following reports she had been seriously injured.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are investigating “a number of anomalies”, Bellerive CIB Detective Acting Inspector Nick Bowden said.
“The evidence at the scene suggests she’s been hit by a car and for that reason, we are fully investigating it.”
Ms Purton’s father took to social media to reveal the pain he and his family are facing in the wake of her death.
“Today I lost my first born Jacqueline Lee Purton. My heart and my family’s hearts have been ripped apart in a tragic day for us,” Scott Purton said.
“Jacqui you will always be loved and remembered by us all.
“To my grandkids, words cannot express how much your mum loved you all.
“My heart goes out to you all, love a father and a grandfather. RIP my beautiful daughter.”
Her sister has started a GoFundMe to raise money for her funeral and to support her children, saying Ms Purton died “under the most cruel circumstances”.
“Her life was taken from her so selfishly, leaving behind a beautiful 20-year-old daughter and three young sons, her daughter will now care for,” Zoe Purton said.
“Anyone who knew Jacqui knew how loving and caring her soul was.”
The man charged with murder will appear before Hobart Magistrates Court on Wednesday
