In his early struggling days, he used to work at the Best Buy. He used to do standup comedy shows at a Chinese restaurant on the weekends. While doing such shows, he met the founders of the Maker Studios, who offered him $1,000 monthly pay if he quit his job and posted videos more than once in 3 weeks. As it took care of his rent, he took their offer.

He is listed as the co-founder of Maker Studios, which was started in 2009, along with Lisa Donovan and Shay Butler. The Maker Studios was eventually bought by The Walt Disney company for $500 million.

He started his social media journey in October 2006 with the creation of his main YouTube channel. He created his secondary channel in June 2009.

When he was 4 years old, his family moved to Florida, United States. He was raised in Ventura County, California.

He decided to make YouTube videos after a video of his friend named Cory Williams went viral.
