In the wake of the backlash caused by Kanye West’s anti-Semitic remarks, Saturday Night Live presented a satirical take on the rapper’s uninvited visit to Skechers’ headquarters.

In the spoof, comedian Cecily Strong portrayed a marketing director for the brand. She said, “Here at Skechers, we pride ourselves on two factors: making trendy, nice shoes at a reasonable price and having zero tolerance for anti-Semitism,” referring to the company’s policies against anti-Semitism.

She said that her team was disgusted by Kanye’s insensitive remarks, just like the rest of the country, and that they had resolved not to collaborate with him under any circumstances.

But even though they might have approached any other businesses and been turned down by them, he decided to work with Skechers instead. Bowen Yang, who also stars alongside Strong, took part in the skit by acting the role of a Skechers staffer in the parody ad.

According to what he claimed, this is the reason why when Kanye West came up to our corporate office this week seeking to partner with us; we declined the opportunity. And we hurriedly led him out of the building as quickly as we could.

After some time had passed, Yang pondered the following: “What would you label a Kanye Skechers shoe anyway, a Skeezy?” before continuing, Two years ago, can you picture the headline saying that Skechers was too good for Kanye?

The parody also made fun of other large fashion firms, specifically Adidas, which, in response to West’s anti-Semitic rant, waited several days to cut connections with him.

It took Adidas many days before they decided not to deal with him. Then, strongly speaking in character, he remarked, “He stepped in while we were, purchase, buh-bye door.”

The sketch came to a close with Yang saying, “I’m sure Kanye will find a morally problematic firm to work with instead,” after Yang had inquired in jest why Crocs had remained mute on the issue. Crocs have not commented on the situation.

After that, the commercial turned to James Austin Johnson playing the role of Trump supporter Michael J. Lindell, who made a phony announcement about a collaboration between My Pillow and West.
